A few weeks, my supervisor in the firm I work for told me to put together a list of AI courses I would be interested in taking. I’ll be sharing a list of those courses and links to where you can find them. Some of these are organised in learning tracks. So, if you complete a set of courses, you earn a professional certificate or a specialisation. You’ll notice that some courses cut across certain tracks. So, when you do one track, it qualifies for another track.
Let’s get into it:
a. Intro to AI
b. What is Data Science?
Straight to business. Last week, I had worked on a project on Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS), which we commonly refer to as self-driving cars. Did you know there are levels, like literal levels, when it comes to self-driving cars?
A Level 0 car has no automation and most cars on our roads fall into this category.
Level 1 cars have specific functions that assist the driver like Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA) to keep the car on a particular lane and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to regulate speed. Honda Civics, Jeeps, and BMWs are Level 1 cars.
Level 2 is partially…
The making of a villain
From the very beginning, I realized I saw the world differently from everyone else
That didn’t sit well with some people
But I wasn’t for everyone
I guess they were all scared that I’d be…
What makes a villain? Is it possible to divide the world cleanly on grounds of heroism and villainy? Where would each of us lie, and what does it take to embrace your side of the debate?
Luckily, this is not a real debate, but in Disney’s Cruella, we get to see the making of a villain. Someone many…
Its that time of the week. I should be reviewing the past 7 days. Comparing my performance with the targets I set for the 6 goals I’m currently chasing. Since the week law school resumption was announced, I’ve been underperforming. It’s like law school sapped my zest for everything. So I take solace in memes and WandaVision.
How do I say this? I’m new to this. But for years, I’ve liked Prophet Habakkuk, his complaining. I could relate to someone taking issues with God’s silence in the face of personal and public pain. This is a struggle for me, this Christian faith for me, so I had to read it through the eyes of someone who had been there. Someone who had questioned God, just like I do frequently. I can’t say I got all the answers, but I have more clarity than when I started.
For context's sake, I did this between October and December 2020…
An Excerpt from my upcoming book on the history of AI
AI was first birthed at a workshop in Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, US, in the year 1956. It was themed, ‘The Dartmouth Research Project on Artificial Intelligence’. It lasted up to eight weeks and was composed mainly of brainstorming sessions. The idea to organize this workshop is credited to John McCarthy, one of the founding fathers of Artificial Intelligence and a key participant at the Dartmouth Research Project.
My goal here is to explore significant parts of the world and show how different people, with little or no contact with each other, all pursued AI, though with primitive methods. Egyptian history, being the best documented from the African continent, is the best for this. Ancient Egypt was also the world’s first modern civilization and superpower of its age, so we should consider how the ancient Egyptians conceived of AI.
We need a new political party. If you’re a Nigerian reading this article, you’re all too familiar with our current political system and its demerits, so I won’t rehash it. For the first time after 4 attempts at democracy, Nigeria finally has a generation of young people born under democracy and have attained the voting age. Many of them voted for the first time in the 2019 elections. …
NO TIME FOR FLUFF. THESE ARE URGENT TIMES.
In this article, I have four goals I seek to achieve.
- Castigate the gross inefficiency of the entire Nigerian Police Force
- Advance arguments in favour of scrapping the entire Nigeria Police Force based on its uselessness and quasi-terrorist orientation
- Propose a series of alternative frameworks for the effective policing of the Nigerian state
- Analyse the flaws in my proposals and see if it is possible to find workable solutions to them
Before I go into these, I must establish the reason for this. I am writing this article…
If you’re not comfortable with strong recourse to faith-based arguments, you need not bother reading this article.
In summary, these are my basic positions –
You know the facts – Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, a singer was sentenced to death because a song…
